The Secretary-General calls for participation in the elections, confirming that it will dispel fears of fraud among the Iraqi population
During a meeting, which was attended by a group of sheikhs and youth from different Karkh regions, on Monday, April 30, 2018, the Secretary General of the Iraqi National Congress, Aras Habib Mohammed Kareem called for a wide participation in the upcoming elections.
“There is a new generation that will participate in the elections and its responsibility is to make change happen and steer the country towards a bright future,” said Habib, pointing out that “the economic renaissance we seek to achieve will contribute to creating job opportunities for the unemployed youth.”
“Successive governments have witnessed many issues which have led to the neglect of all service levels” Habib said. “We need an intellectual revolution that guarantees the rights of all citizens regardless of their sects or nationalities,” he added.
“I invite you to participate in the elections because this will dispel the fears of fraud that have become out of control among the Iraqi population, ” he continued, pointing out that “electoral abstention will contribute to the continuation of quotas and corruption and thus lead to the destruction of the country.”
