The Secretary-General meets with a group of dignitaries and academics from Zaafaraniya and Al-Fadhiliya
On Wednesday, 9th of May 2018, the Secretary-General of the Iraqi National Congress, Aras Habib Mohammed Kareem met with the dignitaries and academics of Zafaraniya, Fadhiliya and the neighboring regions.
The meeting discussed the most important events on the Iraqi scene and how the latter is being impacted by the parliamentary elections which will take place on Saturday 12th of May 2018.
Rami Al-Arabi, a civil activist and the coordinator of the meeting, said: “I was one of the most fervent supporters of boycotting the elections because of the desperation that the successive previous governments brought upon us. But when I met Professor Aras Habib, got familiar with his electoral program and followed his activities and what was he has achieved, I totally changed my perception of the elections”
For his part, Habib said: “Iraq it is a multi-faceted country with a long and rich history. We must preserve this history by forming a civil government that satisfies the demands of the Iraqis.”
He stressed that “the broad participation in the elections will dispel the fears of any election fraud.”
