The Secretary-General meets with a group of elders and academics from the Taji region
On Tuesday, May 1, 2018, the Secretary-General of the Iraqi National Conference, Aras Habib Mohammed Kareem met with a group of elders and academics from the Taji region in the presence of Mr. Nuri Badran, member of the party’s Political Bureau.
The meeting discussed mechanisms to promote the country’s situation, especially with the upcoming parliamentary elections and the change that is expected to ensue.
The attendees stressed that Iraq suffers from many problems, whether on the economic, security, technical or sports front, pointing out that the issues faced by the previous governments are the culprit of our dire situation today.
“Our dependence on a rent-creating economy is not beneficial, especially since our only source of income is oil, which may witness a sudden drop in prices thus leading to the collapse of the country’s economy,” said Habib and he called for activating investments and the private sector.
“Mismanagement has resulted in the neglect of the technical and cultural fields in Iraq and despite the possession of valuable talents and capabilities we still lack the catalyst that will revive these areas,” he added.
