The Secretary-General: The Iraqi National Congress has become a reference for the youth that’s aspiring to change

The Secretary General of the Iraqi National Congress, Aras Habib Kareem, received the members of the administrative board of the “Rawafed el Kheir” commission in his private office in Baghdad on Tuesday 15/8/2017.

Habib said that “even though the new National Congress is only eight month old, it has managed, through its achievements on the ground, to establish itself as a reference for the youth that’s aspiring to the civil state,” noting that “the National Congress, in addition to its openness to civil movements and parties who want to work for the benefit of the nation, has adopted a development and economy oriented policy in order to improve the social welfare.”

He added that “Today, everyone should participate in the political process, and the goal should be the benefit of the nation, not that of any sect or party. Today’s youth are a fundamental pillar of this change; many of them have joined the Iraqi National Congress because of its doctrine that aims for a civilian state.”

Mr. Karim stressed that the Congress “is an all-inclusive party and seeks to ally itself with all parties that share its aspirations for change.”

For their part, the members of the administrative board of the “Rawafed el Kheir” commission asserted that they “are looking for whomever tries to tie and connect the Iraqi people together and act as a unifying umbrella away from the political and sectarian strife that divided the Iraqis and took its toll on the youth and the country’s resources.” They reiterated their hope for “a clear project that aims to protect the Iraqi youth who is in a state of desperation because of the country’s bitter reality.”

Turki al-Ghunaimawi, deputy chairman of Wasit province council, said “Most of the political parties are divided between two different directions with each pole seeking to win the conflict and gain power, but we will seek to unify all efforts”.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed on the importance of careful consideration and that the polling stations should be the people’s first destination for setting the country on the right path.

The members of the administrative board of the Rawafid al-Khair were represented by Turki Al-Ghunaimawi, Deputy Chairman of Wasit Governorate Council, Engineer Jassim Al-Hamami, Chairman of Wasit Governorate Council, Wasit Governorate Council Member Amal Al-Ukaili and Mr. Mahdi Saleh Jarallah, Member of the Local Government in Essaouira, Siraj Sammak / Vice Chairman of the Wasit Governorate Council in addition to the presence of other members of the Commission..
